I’ve totally been loving the photography in the Portland area. I’ve only been here a month and so have not even got my feet wet, but what I’ve done has been great!

Jackson Bottom Wetlands

It is super close to my house and has been a great place for me to get out and work on my photography for a change. The Nikon 500mm lens that I just bought actually takes some work to get the hang of using it. The depth of field is so shallow that, I am always stopping down to about F8 for sharp birds. If you missed my thoughts about the lens you can read them…HERE.

The wetlands is about 600 acres right in the middle of Hillsboro, OR and it is loaded with birds and flowers and all sorts of photography opportunities. I have only scratched the surface so stay tuned.
