The Grey Fox kits from the summer workshop were extraordinarily awesome! I know I’ve been saying that a lot lately, but the animals at this summers workshops were so off the charts great, I can’t help it. Anyway, Grey Fox are great looking animals and despite the bit of red coloration they are not related to the ubiquitous Red Fox. This was the first workshop that we had Grey Fox kits and my fingers are crossed for next year!

Interesting Grey Fox Facts

  • can climb a tree as easily as a cat (backwards or forwards!)
  • weigh between 8 – 15 pounds (3.6 to 7 kg)
  • length ranges from 30 – 44 inches (76 to 112.5 cm)
  • omnivore including fruits and vegetables
  • collective nouns – a lead, a leash and a skulk are the common collective nouns for foxes in general

If you read this blog with any regularity, you know I am going to dislike all of those collective nouns. In the light of the Grey Foxes unusual (for a canine) abilty to climb a tree, a climb should be the new collective noun. Thoughts?
