The Lynx is one cool cat (pun intended) not only do they have a perfect collective noun (chain) they are also great looking animals. We photographed both the Canada and the Eurasian (Siberian) Lynx during my workshops and I thought I would show both of them together so you can get an idea of the differences.

Comparing the Canada and Eurasian Lynx

  • The Eurasian Lynx is native to northern European and Siberian forests and plains.
  • The Canada Lynx is found in the northern part of the USA as well as in the forests of Canada and Alaska.
  • The Eurasian Lynx length from head to the tail is 32 to 40 in (80 to 130 cm) and can weigh 33 to 64 pounds (15 to 29 kg)
  • The Canada Lynx length from the head to the tail is 32 to 40 in (80 to 100 cm) and weighs 22 to 44 lbs (10 to 20 kg)
  • Both species have large ears adorned with conspicuous black tufts, and the long cheek hair hangs down to form a facial ruff
