I’d been to the Henderson Bird Preserve several years ago and had fond memories of quality bird photography and plenty of potential. I had the chance to re-visit this water treatment facility in the heart of the desert…and was not disappointed.
There are a large number of waterfowl and birds of all kinds hiding along the nearly mile long paved boardwalk. The whole facility is an oasis of water in the Las Vegas desert covering nearly 150 acres with 9 ponds available for birders and photographers. If you lived in the areas this would be a regular stop and if you are in the area it’s worth a visit. I will say I was surprised by how skittish the waterfowl are considering the amount of foot traffic and that they are not hunted here.
