I was in New England for a couple of weeks co-instructing a photography workshop with David Middleton and Scott Rouse and then off to New Hampshire for a private photography workshop. During the Vermont workshop we went to the dairy farm that David featured in his last book and I saw a zillion Barn Swallows with their babies and so as soon as the workshop was over I went to get some images.
In case you were curious:
- The collective nouns for Swallows include, a flight, a gulp, a herd, a kettle, a richness, a sord or a swoop.
- They spends more time in the air, than any other land bird.
- They usually mate in the air.
- They are capable of feeding their young while they are in flight.
- Length: 7.5-8.5 inches Wingspan:12.6-13.6 inches
