I was in Yellowstone National Park scouting for the possibility of adding a workshop in the park next winter. Winter is such a glorious time to be in the park. There are very few people, the animals are much easier to locate and photograph. Of course, you may have to put up with -30 degree weather and the occasional ground blizzard, but hey, that’s wildlife photography.

Drop me an email if you are interested in a Yellowstone Photography Workshop next winter. You can also keep up to date at my wildlife photography workshop page…HERE.

You can see all of my Bighorn Sheep photography or order prints…HERE.

In case you were curious:

  • A Rocky Mountain bighorn ram’s horns can weigh 30 pounds (14 kilograms)—more than all the bones in his body combined!
  • Fighting for dominance or mating rights, males face each other, rear up on their hind legs, and hurl themselves at each other in charges of some 20 miles (32 kilometers) an hour.
  • Average life span in the wild: 6 to 15 years
  • Size: 5 to 6 ft (1.5 to 1.8 m)
  • Weight: 117 to 279 lbs (53 to 127 kg)

This map shows the 2 locations that we located the Bighorn Sheep in Yellowstone.
