Porcupine Photos

I am always amazed at just how fast a Porcupine can move, you’d think photographing one would be simple. The other things I didn’t know is that they actually like attention at least as babies, they like having their tummy scratched just like a kitten or puppy. I would not suggest this with one of the adult Porcupines though!

Interesting Facts about Porcupines

  • up to 30,000 quills on their body
  • are excellent climbers
  • a baby porcupine is called a porcupette
  • Length – 25 to 36 in (60 to 90 cm)
  • Weight – 12 to 35 lbs (5 to 16 kg)
  • Also called a Quill Pig
  • collective noun is a prickle
For a change I don’t have a strong opinion about this collective noun. Of course, I do have an alternate collective noun that I like, a barb! Thoughts?
