Well the “World Famous” Alligator Farm in St. Augustine has never disappointed for bird photography and 2011 is shaping up to be a banner year. I’ve been photographing at the rookery for about 10 years now and it really is special and there is no place quite like it. Even though the birds are wild and not confined they nest right along the boardwalk and you can see egrets and herons on their nest about a yard away as in wide angle lens close!
Even though there are several hundred birds to photograph it is chaos! The birds are courting, building, fighting, eating, hatching and several more ings all over the place. Isolating action and finding clean backgrounds is the hard part…the birds are everywhere!
If you would like to see more of my bird photography or order a print you can do that…HERE.
You can get frequent updates about the birds on the Alligator Farm’s blog…HERE.[nggallery id=113]
Here is a map of the images and the locations in the rookery that I was standing when I took the photograph. The GPS can be off so, it it appears I was in the water, I was not! Way too many alligators in there for me.[xmlgm ngg_gallery=113]
